Succession FLE Capital LLC is focused on locating and funding the acquisition of an enduringly profitable small business in the San Diego area. Stephen Johnstone, the founder of the fund, is looking for a well established local company with a proven track record in a defensible and/or niche market. We are also looking for specific, purpose-driven investors to provide capital to fund the transaction and participate in the growth and success of the acquired company.

Family

Stephen is a dedicated family man whose primary focus is supporting and providing financially for his family. He actively participates in his kid's school and sports activities such as t-ball, baseball, and soccer. He enjoys spending time with his wife Lisa hiking and being active as she trains for sprint triathlons. Making time to pick up kids at school, work on their homework, or take a walk with the family dog is a priority and a lifestyle choice as important as career and financial achievement. This dedication keeps Stephen focused and working efficiently to ensure the smooth running of a business and reasonable commitment to a standard working schedule.

Leadership

Stephen has a proven track record of leadership working with small focused team on rapidly developed projects as well a large distributed teams working across sites and timezones on mission-critical cloud-enabled analytics and storage platforms. He has worked to mentor direct reports as they develop their careers and also has experience managing peers and upper management. He is currently attending the Rady School of Management where he is pursuing a Masters in Business Administration. This program has built on his years of experience in leadership and organization and has prepared him to take on ownership of a small business.

Entrepreneurship

With years of experience as an intrapreneur developing agile practices and pushing innovation within the walls of another company, Stephen is looking to take the reigns of an established company and lead it to the next level in its evolution. Strategic thinking, continually planning, and a big-picture view of business positions Stephen to effectively lead a company into a new venture, product launch, or optimizing an existing process or workflow to a higher level of efficiency.
